1.5 Downgrading
Downgrading is more common in traditional airlines.
The reason is simple — there are more services the airline can downgrade. It’s different with budget airlines (Wizz Air, easyJet, Ryanair). But there are certain services that can be downgraded such as seats. If you have booked a better seat and it’s not available, you can ask the airline to refund the difference.
Make sure to contact Wizz Air regarding this.

Claiming Wizz Air Flight Compensation On Your Own
Remember, the most important thing is to be persistent.
Know your rights and don’t agree to anything less than you are entitled to. Airlines use various methods to avoid paying flight compensation. Sometimes airlines do not give the right reasons for flight delays and cancellations, and often call avoidable technical problems extraordinary circumstances. Also, airlines often offer coupons instead of refunds/compensations (without offering a choice) which is against the law. It isn’t only about Wizz Air, many airlines around the world use these tactics.
Be prepared that it may take several months to get compensation from Wizz Air. When it comes to compensation and refunds, Wizz Air is not the easiest airline to work with.
Court Action – Wizz Air
In some cases, court action may be necessary.
If Wizz Air refuses to pay compensation, you can ask National Enforcement Bodies (NEB) to assist you. NEBs enforce the EU passenger rights under the EU Regulation EC No 261/2004 and assist passengers. We recommend contacting the NEB first, as it may eliminate the need for court altogether. Whatever the outcome compensation-wise, a positive NEB ruling will hugely benefit you in the court, by highly improving your chances for a positive outcome.
If nothing else works, take your case to court.
Or hand it over to a flight compensation company.
