2. How to Claim Wizz Air Compensation for a Baby?

There are two ways to claim Wizz Air flight compensation for infants and children.

To claim flight compensation, you have two options: reach out to the airline directly or choose a flight compensation company. The latter is the more straightforward alternative.

When seeking compensation for a baby or child, follow the same process as you would for an adult. While travelling with your family, one individual can claim on behalf of the entire family. The best part is the fact that this one adult doesn’t have to be one of the passengers.

  1. When contacting the airline directly, ensure you have all your documents prepared. Be prepared to provide a clear explanation of what happened and why you believe you are entitled to compensation. Airlines might attempt to reject your claim or reduce your rightful compensation, hence it’s crucial to assert your rights and persist in seeking what you’re owed.
  2. Alternatively, a flight compensation company can save you time and effort by managing all airline communication for you. We suggest seeking compensation through a flight compensation company.

When choosing this option, here is all you will have to do:

In many instances, this process lasts for at least 2-3 months.

If escalation to a national enforcement body or court becomes necessary, it can extend the timeline by at least a couple of months, sometimes up to 6 months or more. Many people choose to get help from flight compensation companies instead of the airline because of these long wait times.

Remember! Wizz Air isn’t one company. There are several companies registerd in different countries. If you are flying with Wizz Air Hungary, you are protected by Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 on all flights. With Wizz Air UK, you have almost identical rights as with Wizz Air Hungary. With Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, you have the same rights only on flights that are departing from Europe (EU, EEA, UK).

If it’s an airport staff strike it’s considered an extraordinary circumstance.

Additionally, keep in mind that airlines don’t always provide complete transparency.

For instance, aircraft technical issues aren’t usually seen as extraordinary, unless there’s a hidden manufacturing defect. If your flight is delayed or cancelled for technical reasons, you have the right to request compensation. Alternatively, you can seek assistance from a flight compensation company to ensure you’re not being misled. These companies can review your flight details and file for compensation on your behalf.

5. Right to Care for Babies and Children

Just like adults, babies and kids have a right to care.

Should you and your children ever become stranded at the airport, there are regulations in place to offer assistance. EC Regulation 261/2004 offers safeguards for passengers dealing with extended delays, sudden cancellations, and denied boarding.

Airlines are required to offer care services if your wait exceeds three hours in the airport terminal.

If your Wizz Air flight is delayed, cancelled or overbooked, the airline must provide you with complimentary meals and beverages based on the duration of your wait. Should an overnight stay be required, Wizz Air must offer you free accommodation and free transportation to that place and back.

The whole family can receive meals and a free hotel stays.
