Wizz Air UK Compensation: How to Claim?

Wizz Air UK compensation. Are you entitled to it?

How much can you claim? What are the rules?

Wizz Air isn’t just a single company. There are several companies. And they are registered in different countries. For example, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is a national airline of the United Arab Emirates, but Wizz Air UK Ltd. is a British airline. And since Brexit, there are a few things that have changed with British airlines and air passenger rights. On some flights, you are protected by the EU law, on others — UK law, Regulation UK261.

Let’s go more into detail now!

1. Wizz Air UK is a UK Airline

Wizz Air UK is a company registered in the UK.

Before 2021, you were protected by the EU Flight Compensation regulation. Then for a while, there were concerns, that after Brexit UK travellers and people travelling with UK airlines may become less protected by law. These concerns turned out to be unnecessary because the UK Government wrote this regulation into UK law. They adopted the same law, making only minor changes.

To put it simply, very little has changed. Almost nothing.

What changed is that now you are protected by two laws.

Sometimes you are protected by the EU law (Regulation EC261/2004), other times – by UK law (Regulation UK261), and then there are also times when you are protected by both. And if you claim compensation yourself, you have to know which law to refer to.

2. All Possible Scenarios

This matters only if you claim compensation yourself.

If you work with a flight compensation company, you just give them your flight details and that’s all. They do all the work. For example, our partners let you file a claim online.
